Who publishes Gambling Under Control, what we do not do, and how the desk is paid.
Gambling Under Control is a small independent publication built on one idea: gambling is legal, common and heavily advertised, so the useful question is not whether people play but whether they stay in charge while they do. We write about both halves — how the games, the offers and the rules actually work, and what happens when play stops being play.
What we are not
We are not a clinic and not a treatment service. We are not connected to Columbia University, the New York State Psychiatric Institute, or any hospital, charity or regulator, and we are not connected to any organisation with a similar name. This domain was bought second-hand; the resemblance is a coincidence of the address, nothing more. We do not take patients or referrals, we hold nobody’s money, and nothing here is medical, legal or financial advice.
We are also not a bookmaker, a casino or a tipster. There is no account to open here and no bet to place.
What we publish
Explainers that stay true for years rather than for a news cycle: how a self-exclusion scheme works and where it leaks, what a licence in a footer buys you, how a withdrawal is actually processed, what the arithmetic behind an offer really costs. Where a claim comes from a regulator, a research paper or a public register, we link to it.
How the desk is paid
By advertising and paid placements. Some pages carry links bought by third parties, and some of the older material on this domain was published as sponsored content by whoever commissioned it.
